What Happens When You Stop Taking Wegovy: Effects and Tips
Introduction
If you are reading this, you are probably thinking about stopping Wegovy, already have, or getting ready to do so. Stopping is not as simple as skipping your next dose. Your body has been working differently ever since you started the treatment, and when the medication leaves your body, many things change.
When you stop injecting Wegovy, your appetite will retain and you will regain some weight. Studies show around two-thirds of weight lost can come back within a year. Also, withdrawal symptoms are not true, but stopping it can make the difference more noticeable.
is a prescribed injection taken once a week. In the UK, it is used to help adults with obesity or those who are overweight and have related health issues like high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes.
It works using the active ingredient called semaglutide, which belongs to a group of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists.
When new to Wegovy, you start on a low dose and increase the dose to the full maintenance dose of 2.4 mg per week.
After you eat, your body naturally releases a hormone called GLP-1.

Wegovy copies that hormone so that your body would manage on its own. But these effects only last while you are taking the medication, and once you stop, your appetite and digestion return to how they were before.
